Vending Machine Mystery

Sean Ditmore, a student worker who is known for his smarts, made a
wonderful observation. Why is that vending machines put non-breakable
items like gum on the bottom row and breakable items like candy bars on
the top?

  1. I’d be willing to lay odds that it’s because the other products make them more money, and so they want them closer to eye-level to increase the odds of your buying it. Stores do the same basic thing. Look at the placement of the products the next time you’re in Wal-Mart and see what I mean.
